Monstera Obliqua Peru Dimensions

(Very) Green Thumbs to the front! Not to be mistaken with its popular cousin, Monstera Adansonii... we are clearly talking about the collectors' jewel, Monstera Obliqua Peru. One of the rarest ever on market, due to it being very difficult to produce.

  • Brightness Bright indirect light
  • Humidity High need in humidity
  • Growth stage Baby plant
  • Difficulty Little diva here

Origin : Central America, particularly Mexico.
Personality : A real pain in the ... that requires some patience and knowledge.
Earmark : Even smaller than its cousin Adansonii, the Obliqua comes with small delicate leaves, covered in big oval holes.
Say something smart : The Monstera Obliqua family is actually quite large (Amazonas, Brasil, Colombia, Bolivia...). Peru is the most famous and sought-after, because the rarest and the one with the most delicate leaves.

Which container?

A planter usually looks nice, but we recommend not to plant your new baby directly in one.
Leave it in its current pot until Spring, then ideally transfer it into a terracota pot with little drain holes when it looks cramped.

Finding its place

Brightness : High level of brightness, but no direct sun.
Avoid letting it feel draughts near the windows and take it away from heating sources.
Humidity : Extremely high levels of humidity, 85 % or more. This plant can leave in a pot, but would be even happier in a terrarium.
Tip : Spray its leaves with water (ideally rain-water) once a day.
Tip 2 : Place some wet clay pebbles under the pot, so they keep diffusing humidity.
Temperature : An ideal constant temperature of 25°Celsius would be perfect.

Day-to-day care

Watering (purely indicative, depends on your local environment): once or twice a week in Spring/Summer, and once every week in Autumn and Winter.
Tip : Put your knuckle in the ground. If it feels totally dry, add some water to keep the soil wet (but not soaking it).
Fertilizer : Once every other week, from March to September.

This plant has to be taken care of buy people who are familiar with difficult plants.
